Job Summary:
The High School Music and Art Teacher at AIS is a creative educator responsible for designing and delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in both visual arts and music. The role involves nurturing students’ artistic expression, musicality, and appreciation for the arts, while contributing to a dynamic school culture that celebrates creativity and diversity.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Duties:
- Teach a combination of visual arts (drawing, painting, design, sculpture) and music (theory, vocal, instrumental, general music) to students in Grades 9–12.
- Develop and implement engaging lessons that meet American and international standards.
- Foster students’ artistic and musical expression through project-based, project based learning experiences.
- Encourage creative risk-taking and critical analysis of art and music.
- Incorporate technology and digital tools into instruction (e.g., digital art platforms, music composition software).
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning styles and skill levels.
Assessment & Feedback:
- Design and use both formative and summative assessments to track student progress.
- Maintain clear records of student work, performance, and participation.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback and guidance to students.
Collaboration & Enrichment:
- Plan and coordinate student exhibitions, performances, and arts events.
- Collaborate with colleagues on cross-disciplinary projects or school-wide events.
- Contribute to extracurricular programs such as arts clubs, school plays, talent shows, or music ensembles.
Professional Responsibilities:
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment.
- Uphold the mission, values, and educational philosophy of AIS.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Music Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Valid teaching certification/license for secondary arts education.
- Minimum 2–3 years of teaching experience, preferably in an international or American curriculum school.
- Strong proficiency in both music and visual arts instruction.
- Experience organizing performances, exhibitions, or cultural showcases.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to lead or accompany school musical ensembles, choirs, or drama productions.
- Familiarity with digital art and music production tools.
- Passion for arts education and a collaborative mindset.
- Experience working in a multicultural school setting.
