Principal’s Message

My name is Merdin Mohammed, and I am proud to serve as the School Principal of the American International School (AIS) of Duhok. It is truly an honor to come full circle and give back to my home country while continuing to serve and reach more students.

I bring over 11 years of administrative experience and a deep passion for education. In addition to holding a PhD in Educational Leadership, I also have a coaching certificate and actively support the growth of educators through coaching and mentoring. I have also had the privilege of serving on boards for programs that support first-generation students.

Throughout my career, I have developed a strong ability to connect with diverse communities. I actively honor and embrace cultural diversity and work to understand and support it, especially as I join a school community that reflects and celebrates it. I take pride in my ability to work effectively with individuals from different nationalities and backgrounds, always striving to create inclusive and supportive environments for students, families, and staff.

I am truly excited to be part of such a wonderful school community. I look forward to the role we will all play together in advancing the mission and vision, ensuring that every student has access to the highest-quality educational experience possible.
