Academic Foundation
American Education System
An American standards-based education that connects rigorous learning, local requirements, and preparation for each student's next stage.
AIS uses the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English language arts and mathematics and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for science.
Learning is designed to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and scientific inquiry while meeting Kurdistan Regional Government Ministry of Education requirements.
International Standards and Local Requirements
Clear standards establish what students should understand and be able to do as they progress between grade levels. AIS combines these international academic expectations with required local studies and languages.
High School and the Future Diploma Pathway
AIS High School is structured as a four-year program covering Grades 9–12. For the 2026–2027 academic year, Grades 9 and 10 are open. Grade 11 is scheduled to open in 2027–2028, followed by Grade 12 in 2028–2029.
Students who complete the full AIS high-school program and meet all graduation requirements will earn an American High School Diploma designed to support entry into higher education locally and internationally.
MSA Quality Commitment
AIS has been accredited by the Middle States Association since 2023. Accreditation supports a continuing commitment to reflection, school improvement, and educational quality.
