Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic High School English Teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of literature, foster critical thinking, and help students develop strong reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills. This role includes delivering engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards, assessing student progress, and contributing to the school community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver effective English lessons that meet curriculum standards for grades 9–12.
- Teach a range of texts including novels, plays, poetry, and non-fiction.
- Foster students’ skills in reading comprehension, essay writing, literary analysis, and oral communication.
- Integrate grammar, vocabulary, and language development into instruction.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs and support ESL students if applicable.
- Design and administer assessments to monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
- Support students’ development through one-on-one guidance and academic support when needed.
- Participate in departmental planning, school events, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development.
- Contribute to a positive, respectful classroom and school environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Valid teaching certification/license.
- Minimum 2–3 years of teaching experience at the high school level.
- Strong command of the English language and literary concepts.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to integrate technology into instruction and learning.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with curriculum design and differentiated instruction.
- Familiarity with international curricula (e.g., IB, IGCSE, AP) is a plus.
Ability to lead extracurricular activities such as debate, journalism, or writing clubs.
